Tips for choosing tiles

2021-01-16

First of all, different spaces have different requirements for tiles. Pay attention to the choice of tiles in special areas. For example, the floor tiles of the kitchen and bathroom should be glazed tiles, which can prevent oil, dirt, slip and stains.

1. Tilesuitable for living room

The living room environment is less affected by temperature and pollution. Relatively speaking, it is a relatively good environment. The functional material requirements of the ceramic tile itself are not very high. The only thing to pay attention to is to choose the specific color according to the light of the living room and personal preference. Vitrified tiles are optional. Vitrified tiles are beautiful because of their bright surface and high abrasion resistance. However, they have the disadvantages of single color, easy to get dirty, non-slip and easy to infiltrate colored liquids. Such tiles are generally relatively large and are mainly used in living rooms. Water-rich places such as bathrooms and kitchens. The most used floor tiles in the living room are 500*500 and 600*600 floor tiles. If the living room area is more than 40 square meters, 800*800 floor tiles should be considered. Small area, the floor tiles are too large when paving, the loss will be large, and it will not look good.

2. Suitable tiles for kitchen, bathroom, balcony

The walls of the kitchen generally use bright and light-colored wall tiles, because the kitchen feels clean, tidy, relaxed, and pleasant. Too dark colors will appear a little depressing, and bright tiles are better for cleaning up dirt. If you consider using matte tiles for the kitchen wall, it is best to choose a flat surface instead of those with bumps, mainly for easy scrubbing. There is no oily smoke in the bathroom, and there are more wall tiles to choose from. You can use whatever you like.

3. Floor tiles for kitchen, bathroom, balcony and other areas

These areas are prone to slippery ground because of more water. Matte non-slip tiles should be used. The specification is recommended to be 300×300 or 330×330. The bathroom and kitchen area are relatively small. Large floor tiles are not good-looking. In addition, the floor of the bathroom needs to be inclined to the drip to facilitate the flow of water. Large-size floor tiles are not easy to slope. In terms of color, try to use a darker color, because there is often water on the floor of the kitchen and bathroom, and the water and dust together make mud, and the mud is dark. If the ground is light-colored, it is particularly ugly. If you use floor heating at home, it is recommended that you use all floor tiles. The thermal conductivity of floor tiles is much better than that of the floor, and the thermal conductivity of wood is very low. Most floor tiles are more environmentally friendly and much better than most floor products.

When identifying the quality of ceramic tiles, you can start with these aspects:

1. Weight: Just try it in your hand, the heavier the tile of the same specification, the better, because this means that the density is higher, and it will naturally be more resistant to pressure and scratch;

2. Do some small tests, including scratch resistance, water absorption, pressure resistance, non-slip, and dirt seepage tests:

Scratch resistance: Take a hard object and scratch the surface of the tile. If it is still as smooth as new, it is a good tile. Remember to talk to the merchant in advance before making a plan;

Water absorption: pour water on the tile to see the water infiltration rate. The slow infiltration is a good tile, because it means it is denser and the porcelain is more compact. Wait 5 minutes and wipe off the water to see if there are signs of water absorption. No trace is good. Insert the kitchen and bathroom tiles here, because the kitchen and bathroom tiles are made of ceramic, so the water absorption rate is high. Here, after pouring the water on the kitchen and bathroom tiles, pour the water until it does not absorb water. After 5 minutes, see if it will penetrate the surface. If you can see through it, it means that the glazed surface is thin, the density is low, and the quality is not good. Some tiles pour water from the back, and conversely, you can see the water stains from the front. This kind of glazed tile is absolutely unacceptable. Floor tiles generally do not absorb water and do not need to do a drip test.

In addition, draw a marker on the tile and wipe it for 10 minutes to see if there are any traces. What is easy to wipe without a trace is good. If you want to test the pressure and slip resistance, just stand up and try it yourself. Just sprinkle some water on the floor tiles to see if they are non-slip. Floor tiles, especially the kitchen and bathroom, must see whether the anti-slip degree is sufficient. The easiest way is to put a few tiles on the ground, pour some water on the tiles, and walk around the tiles. Sometimes you can't feel it with your hands. The bathroom floor tiles are not slip resistant. Every time I take a bath, I stand barefoot on the tiles like walking on thin ice. After the bath, I have to think about cleaning the water pier. If there are elderly and children at home, the anti-slip properties of tiles must be paid more attention.

3. Flatness: See if the size is neat. Buying ceramic tiles is for aesthetics. In addition to the design, the most important indicator is that the porcelain tile should be as flat as possible and the same size. The professional term for this is called scale difference. The smaller the ruler difference, the higher the accuracy of the side length of the tile, and the better the effect after paving. It is not only easy to construct, but also saves man-hours and auxiliary materials. The inspection method is very simple. Go to the building materials city to find 2 samples of the same model of tiles, face to face together, look at the light, if there is a lot of uneven light leakage, high-quality light can not be seen, and then see if the four corners are all overlapped , There is very little difference in high quality. After the alignment is completed, the glazed tile should be rotated so that all sides of the glazed tile are aligned. Everyone can tell the good from the bad by looking at a few more. You can ask the salesman to help you take out a few tiles on the ground, align them on one side, and see how much difference the other side is. This can enlarge the gap. If the scale difference is too large, it proves to be the goods of a small factory.
