Glazed Tile

Glazed porcelain tiles are tiles made of clay. These tiles have gone through an additional firing process to give it a desired finish. While they're slightly less durable than their unglazed counterpart, the glazing process allows for a wider range of styles and colours and makes them less vulnerable to staining.

Glazing is the only real difference between glazed and unglazed tiles. After the ceramic tiles are fired, a thin coat of liquefied glass is applied over the top surface. The glass is what makes glazed tiles so highly moisture and stain resistant and what gives them their colour.
